Hey brick fans!
I just got my hands on the Lumibricks/Funwhole Steampunk Flying Club (F9050) and couldn’t wait to crack it open and share the unboxing experience with you. And the timing couldn't be any better with International Steampunk Day being celebrated on June 14!
A huge thanks to Lumibricks for sending me this cool Lego compatible set to review! Let’s first dive into the unboxing!📦 The Box
As a longtime fan of Lego-compatible sets—and especially anything with a steampunk twist—this one had me excited from the moment I saw the box art.
Right out of the gate, Funwhole's packaging continues to impress. The box is sturdy, matte-finished, and features that signature dramatic lighting style they’re known for. The artwork shows off the flying club HQ in all its glory, gears turning, propellers spinning, and little steampunk touches everywhere. Very atmospheric. The caption on the side of the box says "Dreamers Always Aim for the Sky".
The set clocks in at 1858 pieces and comes with 5 minifigures—all the founding members of Steampunk Flying Club.
✂️ What’s Inside?
Upon opening the box, here’s what you get:
-
A total of 34 bags of parts, clearly numbered across 10 building stages
-
2 high-quality and easy to follow instruction manuals
-
A separate box containing the LED light kit, complete with wires, a battery box, and pre-wired lighting elements
-
A plethora of tools, such as a brick separator, tweezers, and a small screwdriver
The bags are well organized and numbered for each section of the build, which is something I really appreciate.
The 5 minifigures come unassembled, so you have to put them together yourself. They can be found in the parts bag marked F. In the bag marked baseplates, you get 6 16x16 baseplates, but I decided to use my own 32x32 custom MILS plate, so I've got some extra parts for my future mocs.
