Review of the Buildiful Happy Burger House F-C10147 Building Block set

Hey brick fans!

Today we will be reviewing the Buildiful Happy Burger House F-C10147.  It's a Lego compatible version of the Bob's Burger featured in the same named cartoon series.  I actually have never watched the cartoon, so I just bought this set on a whim because it looks different from other modular buildings.

Here's the wikipedia article about Bob's Burgers.

If you're not familiar with the cartoon series, here's what Bob's Burger restaurant looks like. The building has a unique and distinctive colour scheme of bright green and yellow.   The main floor houses the burger restaurant and the owner and family called the Belchers live in the flat above it.

I found a variety of sets on Temu and Aliexpress ranging from just a front facade to a full sized modular building.   Both of the above designs are copies of Bob's Burger mocs found on rebrickable.  The smaller facade version was listed for about $40ish CDN dollars whereas the full modular version is sold on Temu and Aliexpress for between $350 to $400 CDN.

This particular building block model, kind of slots in between the two with 1018 pieces and a decent sized model with furnished interiors on both first and second floor. I paid just under $65 CDN for this set on Temu, but I think you can also find this model on Amazon.  Regardless of which model you buy, you won't find any minifigures of the Belcher family included.

Unboxing

Although the Buildiful Happy Burger set was sold on Temu, it actually shipped with the box from the U.S.

The contents of the box include a 92 page instruction manual, a sticker sheet and several numbered parts bags.

The set is built in five sections and as it turns out the parts bags are numbered one thru five with each set of bags corresponding to the section in the manual.

Here's a visual inventory of the parts bags included in the set.

Building the Happy Burger House

My initial impressions are that the bricks used are super tight clutchwise.  You really need to force some of the bricks together.  And I noticed that some of the green bricks have colour variations.

Here's the first floor interior, which consists of a booth and counter with three stools for seating.  The booth has some hamburgers, a tea or coffee cup and ketchup and mustard bottles.  Similar items can be found on the countertop.  Additionally there is a cash register and coffee make and mugs.  The cash register and menu use printed pieces instead of stickers which is a nice bonus.

The front of the building is completed in step 2.  I chose not to apply the included Happy Burger sticker at this time.

Next we built the wall in between the diner and the kitchen. It has a passthru window and another printed sign.  There's not a lot of space behind the counter.

The kitchen despite being well equipped is also super narrow.  The kitchen has a grill, a stove and a fan hood as well as various food items being prepared.

Fortunately, there's an opening panel on the wall for better viewing of the kitchen space.  There's a doorway next to the oven but I think it is supposed to lead to a staircase that goes up to the second floor.  Due to the compactness of this set, it was probably eliminated.

The design of this set is such that the second floor is not removable from the first and with the open back, the burger house is more of a dollhouse than a modular building.

The living room is situated on the second floor and it is furnished with a bookcase, a TV media centre, a couch and a large vase with flowers.

There is supposed to be a full sized doorway into the living room, but what I got is a smaller door frame which is an error.  I contacted Temu about this and managed to get a $12 credit for the error.  In future I'll just replace it with a doorway from my brick stash.

On the remainder of the second floor there is a bedroom with a bed and a desk containing a printed letter and an old school telephone.

The upper part of the building front is almost complete.

Step 5 completes the remainder of the build.  There are burger stickers that I didn't use on the protruding sign that I might put on later.

Here's the backside of the Happy Burger. Since the doorway was too small I simply removed it.

This is the side view.  From this angle, we see that the depth of the baseplate is 16 studs.  The majority of the building structure is only 12 studs deep.

The other side view.

Here's that opening panel in the wall again.

The final accessory is the small tree on the corner of the build.   The width of the baseplate is 24 studs and therefore the building is 20 studs wide because of the 2 stud gap on either side.

I'm definitely of the mind to rebuild the Happy Burger on a 32x32 baseplate.  This would allow me to widen the restaurant to so that there is more room between the booth, the counter, and the kitchen.  I wonder if I could also squeeze in the staircase to the second floor?   Length wise I would add an extra booth in the dining room and maybe a 2 piece bathroom for customers.  Upstairs I would add a kitchen and another bedroom if possible.

Here's a sample floorplan of the Burger building I found on the web, but I don't know how accurate it is.

In case, you were wondering whether minifigures can fit into the Happy Burger restaurant, here's a few shots.   In the bottom pic, the counter height is a bit too high as are the stools.

Final Thoughts

Alright, there you have it.  To summarize, the Happy Burger restaurant is a mid sized, thousand piece,  two storey building block set that features a unique and colourful front facade with some nice interior finishes inside.  The bricks used are Lego compatible, however there is the issue of clutch being very tight.

The dollhouse style set uses stickers for the restaurant exterior and printed parts on the inside.  It's a decent replica of the Bob's Burger restaurant featured in the cartoon TV series.   I would recommend this set to fans who watch the show or to anybody that wants the challenge of converting the building to a full sized modular.

I got my set from Temu, but I think you can also search for it on Aliexpress and Amazon (bob's burger building blocks).    Let me know in the comments, if this sort of set appeals to you or not.

Thanks for looking!  Bye for now!
