LesDiy.de MOC-181616 De Zeven Provinciën Klemmbausteine (17th Century Dutch Battleship)

Hey building block fans!  We are back with another set review and it's courtesy of LesDiy.de!
LesDiy was founded in 2014 to find creative and educational building block toys.  They are always looking for cooperation with top MOC designers to share interesting and worthwhile sets at a fair price.

About the set

"Designed and approved by Henktor, the Seven Provinces (Dutch: De Zeven Provinciën) is a battleship of the Dutch Republic. The ship's name is derived from the seven provinces that formed the United Provinces of the Netherlands. It was built in 1664 at the Maas Headquarters in Rotterdam and launched the following year. It could carry 80 cannons. "

The featured model shows the Seven Provinces battling the waves as they traverse the stormy sea.

Unboxing

The Seven Provinces Dutch Battleship set comes in a sturdy box with the LesDIY logo.  The parts come packaged in a large bag which contains a lot of smaller bags of parts.  There's no manual with this set so to get the instructions, you have to scan the provided QR code.

Here is some information I found on the bag, not sure of it's relevance. Maybe the set was packaged on Sept 30?

Here are all the smaller bags of parts of which  I counted 25 different un-numbered bags.

Instructions are pretty straightforward and easy to follow via the PDF.

The Building Process

Start by building the base of the diorama.

Next, layer on the water features.  These bricks are supposed to represent the ocean waves.

Now we are building the battleship.

And attach it to the base.

And now we complete the display by adding the mast , sails and flags.

Final Thoughts

The 17th century Seven Provinces Dutch battleship makes a stunning desk or shelf display for fans of the old sailing ships.  For such a small set, it looks very realistic.  I think the designer did an excellent job and the set looks great from every angle.  With 699 pieces, this set was an easy weekend build even for beginner builders.

I had a lot of tiny pieces leftover from the build.  All the parts were free of defects and it was packed well since there were no missing parts.  This model is Lego compatible, so you could use the leftover pieces in your other alternative Lego building block sets.
