Unboxing the Xbert 66055 Antique Shop Modular Building I bought from Temu

Hey brick fans!

Today, I'll be unboxing the Xbert Antique Shop that I bought from Temu in early July.  Come along for the ride!

Over the past month, I've seen quite a few listings pop up on Temu for this nice looking modular building. The listing indicated that there are 1954 pieces.  The price of the set ranged from mid 60s to some almost a hundred dollars in some cases, so from a price per brick ratio, it's not bad.   The price for the set is always changing, but here's the Temu link, if you are interested.  Just search for similar sets to get the best price.

I thought it looked quite nice, but was worried that the size might LOZ sized and not be compatible with my other Lego compatible modular buildings.  I added it to my Temu cart just to watch the pricing.

About a week later I got a $20 off coupon from Temu, so I decided it's time to drop the hammer on this thing.   After tax, the set cost me $51.38 CDN or about $38 USD. Shipping was free and it took just under 2 weeks to get delivered. Gotta love Temu for the fast shipping.

An even bigger surprise is that the Temu seller actually shipped the set in it's original, albeit mangled box.  It's ok though, I don't plan on keeping the box.

Inside the box, there are several bags of parts numbered 1 thru 7.  There's a smaller bag with some lighting elements, a few small plates and a sealed manual.

The manual is surprisingly thick and looks and feels pretty good.  I've never heard of the Xbert brand before but I think it's a sub-brand of JieStar.

Flipping through the manual, there's a brief description about the Xbert Brix brand.

The manual also contains an introduction to the Antique shop by one of my favourite brick designers from Korea: Oh so Jang.  As he points out, his Antique Shop modular building was inspired by a 3D modelling artist named Piccopoly.   I googled them and found the serpico3d.2020 Instagram and the image that inspired Ohsojang.  Based on the introduction, I have to assume that OhSoJang is working with Xbert to produce the set and therefore the design is authorised and not stolen.   Here's OhSoJang's instagram BTW.

The original model was a bookshop, but I can see how some of the design features made their way into the Antique shop.

Examining the manual a bit more, and there's instructions for a small lighting kit that is included.

Looks like the bags that were numbered 1 through 7 correspond to the steps in the manual.

Here's the sticker sheet that comes with the set. No printed parts and also no minifigures come with the set.   But fortunately, the parts for the set seem to be Lego compatible.

Here's the summary:
