The JMBricklayer Eldorado Biarritz 50110 Building Set Review

Hey brick fans, it's review time again and we have to thank JMBricklayer yet again for providing another a cool Lego compatible set for us to build and review.   The JMBricklayer store has close to 300 different and uniquely designed building block sets, if not more.  They have so many themed sets such as vehicles, trains, ships, medieval, sci-fi, and even plants and animals, that there's something for everyone.

For today's review, we are looking at a model of a very unique American luxury classic car,  Based on the information I found on Wikipedia, this car is the fourth generation version of the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz.  The rocketship taillight design indicates that it is from 1959.   It looks very long and sleek and we will see that this model not only displays beautifully, it also has a lot of special features which we will highlight below.   Best of all,  JMBricklayer has a global promotional discount of 35% off the Eldorado Biarritz and other selected building block sets right now.

Unboxing

Ok, let's see what's in the sturdy black box!

I counted 9 bags of parts, although I can see that some of the bags have smaller bags of parts inside them as well.  Most of the bags are numbereed either 1, 2 or 3.  The wheels and rims are packaged separately, as is the windshield, to prevent it from getting scratches.

Here is the 103 page instruction manual.

And here is the small sticker sheet.  You'll notice that this is a co-branded Mould King set as evidenced by the stickers.

The instructions appear to be clear and well marked and broken down into 3 sections.

Building the Eldorado Biarritz

As you can see the first section will build the tail end of the Cadillac.

Here are the three parts bags you will need to complete section 1.

So a quick look at the brick pieces indicates that they are excellent quality, the finish of the black bricks looks great and there's no scratching or scuffing of pieces which are sometimes noticeable in some other branded building block sets.  As mentioned earlier, there are some smaller bags of parts inside the bigger bags.

Here's the chassis under construction.  I love the chromed wheels.

This set has a lot of chromed pieces which is always a nice bonus.  The trunk is huge and the the trunk lid opens and closes easily.

Here's the surface of the trunk lid in the closed position,  bricks looks good!

Alright let's now move on to section 2.

Here, the mid section of the classic car will be constructed which will include the interior and the doors.

There are two bags used in this section.

Parts dump for section 2.  As you can see the set is composed of mostly black and red bricks with chromed bricks for accent pieces such as the front grill, the rear taillights and the side detailing.

I wasn't expecting so many details like the door handles on both the inside and the outside.  There's even chromed air vents in the interior.  The doors seem to open nd close final with no issues, but I haven't completed their assembly just yet.

We will complete the Eldorado using the two parts bag from section 3.

Here's what's under the hood.  As I was building it, I was wondering how similar the building block representation was to the real engine.   So I did a google search of the engine compartment for a 1959 Eldorado Biarritz and this is what I found.

Ok, I see that the two pulleys for the pumps and the air filter (which is gold coloured in real life).  The two silver grid pieces are supposed to be the hose from the radiator, I guess?  I dunno, what do you think, did they do a good job reproducing the engine compartment?   Maybe could have used some light gray bricks for the radiator.

Here's what the front end looks like.   Lots of shiny bits.

Finishing off the interior, we now have the dashboard, steering wheel  and windshield installed.
Other notable features include the gas and brake pedals on the floor.  The windshield has a rearview mirror and a pair of tan coloured sun visors.  But why is there only one side mirror?

Interesting use of sword pieces to use as windshield wipers, lol.  I suppose I could have positioned them a little better.

Here's the front end with the hood opened up.

Passenger door opens and closes smoothly enough.  Looks legit.

I love the fact that you can open and close both doors the trunk lid and hood.

Birds eye view.

Those shiny rims!

While I was working on the car, I noticed that the wheels are attached to some ratchet type bricks.  I accidentally pushed down and the lowered the body giving it a lowrider appearance.  It turns out that you can change the height of the car to be a bit higher or lower based on your preference.

You can play with the different positions.  Here I've raised the front end while keep in the backend low.  So cool.   Yeah my Caddy is from east LA, bro.

Here's a few more beauty shots.

And here's the Eldorado Biarritz placed next to my JMBricklayer Mercedes K500 model.  The Mercedes K500 is quite a bit smaller next to the Eldorado.

Oh and in case you were wondering, I didn't have any missing pieces, but I did get some extra spare parts from the set.

The JMBricklayer Eldorado Biarritz was super fun to build and if you are a classic car fan like I am, you will want this Lego compatible car in your collection.  I can definitely recommend this set without hesitation.  Best time to get it is now while it is on sale!

Thanks for looking, bye!
