Who you Gonna Call? My review of the Mould King 10021 Ghostbuster's ECTO-1

Mould King 10021 Ghostbuster's ECTO-1 from Temu

Hey brick fans,  I'm back with another review!   Today we will look at the Mould King 10021 Ghostbuster's Ecto-1 building block set.  Let's go!

I bought this set as my very first purchase off of the new shopping site called Temu about a month ago.

Temu set me the Mould King Model Car set with the box and all.  The Ecto-1 is described as a mini luxury car, No Ghostbus.  Set number is 10021 with 603+ pieces.  Age rating is 8+.

The back of the box shows the rear view of Ecto-1, which is also known as the Ectomobile.  The size of this set is very similar to the original Ecto-1 set 21108, I think.   That one had fewer pieces, 508, but they included the 4 Ghostbuster minifigures, which this set doesn't.  Recall that the original Ecto-1 retailed for around $50, was released in 2014 and subsequently retired in 2016.

Here's what's inside the box.  There are 8 bags of parts numbered 1 thru 8, one sticker sheet and a small instruction booklet.

This is a closer look at the sticker sheet, mostly consisting of the a weird representation of the Ghostbuster's logo, some license plates (of which I used one already), and lots of rust stickers (which I didn't use).  Sadly, no printed pieces come with this Ecto-1 set.

So even though you get numbered bags, they don't correspond to any sections in the instruction booklet. I basically just ripped open all of the bags, and dumped their contents on the table to start building.

The Ecto-1 is supposed to be an old converted 1959 Cadillac that has an ambulance/hearse wheelbase.  I found a wiki page for it.  It's pretty cool that there is actually a brick built V-8 motor for it.

With the chassis and engine bay completed, we can move on to the body panels.

Here's the trunk area.

Yup, looks like a Cadillac!

There are two seats in the front and one facing sideways in the second row.  That makes three seats in total.

We now have a windshield and windows.  With wiper blades and side mirrors too.

The roof comes packed with sirens, lights and other Ghostbusting stuff and a ladder to access it all.

The roof mounts securely onto the windows of the Ecto-1.  I like the red fins on the rear by the way.  This set doesn't have any blue tubes that run from the roof down to the grey tubes, like in the original version of the Ecto-1.

I wonder where you put the proton packs though?  Do they go on the roof or inside the vehicle?  If you know, please leave your answer in the comments box, thanks.

I ended up with a handful of extra parts after I finished building the Ecto-1.

The opening hood reveals the engine underneath.  Time to put on the stickers.

This set doesn't come with any minifigures, so I bought some off Aliexpress to display with the Ecto-1.

The side doors and tailgate can be opened and closed.

I managed to squeeze all of the minifigures into the car, but there wasn't any room leftover for their proton packs.

Final thoughts

The Mould King 10021 Ghostbuster's Ecto-1 was a fun build.  I really like that it had opening doors, hood and trunk.  The car rolls really well and the clutch is great. You can play with it and nothing falls off.  It's too bad this set doesn't come with any minifigures with it, but you can remove the roof to put your own minifigures into it.

Here are the four Ghostbusters mini figures I bought from Aliexpress, if you need some to display with the Ectomobile.

I hoped you enjoyed this little review of the Mould King Ecto-1 No Ghostbus!

Check out Temu, if you haven't had a chance, you might stumble across something you like!  I'd be really happy  if you use my affiliate link.

I think you can find this set on Aliexpress and through other on-line retailers as well.   Thanks for looking and see you in my next post, bye!
