Are you a Lego building block fan or an Initial D manga fan? If yes, this set might be for you.


The Cada Initial D Mazda RX-7 FC3S building set was purchased from the official online Cada store for a cost of $12.99 USD.  Also bought at the same time was the similarly priced yellow Mazda RX-7 FD3S model in order to qualify for the free shipping of purchases over $20.

Licensed by Initial D and Mazda, the cars are shipped with the original boxes by Cada.  Ryosuke Takahashi drives the white Mazda RX-7, while his brother Keisuke drives the yellow Mazda RX-7. Both cars belong to the Red Suns racing team in the Initial D manga and anime series.

Keisuke's yellow Mazda RX-7 will be reviewed in the very near future.

The building toy set consists of a 26 page instruction booklet, a couple of sticker sheets and five bags of parts.  

I counted a total of 68 parts which makes the Mazda RX-7 a quick and easy build.

Headlight, taillight and other vehicle features are provided thru the use of stickers.

The base structure is comprised of building blocks and there's no interior to speak of.

The remainder of the body parts are specially molded for this model, making for a very realistic looking car.

It would have been nice if the doors, trunk and hood had been designed to open up, but it's not the case with this model.

And just like that, the Mazda RX-7 is finished.

The larger wheels that were originally included with the set have been replaced by  lower profile wheels, giving the RX-7 a much lowered stance.

What do you think looks better, the original larger wheels, or the smaller diameter wheels added afterwards?
